By Participating with Two Research Papers in the Second Gulf International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management Mustaqbal University, Represented by the College of Engineering and Computer Science, Wins Second Place

Mustaqbal University, represented by the College of Engineering and Computer Science, participated in the Second Gulf International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management, held at Sultan Qaboos University in the Sultanate of Oman from December 1 to 3, 2024.

The university’s team distinguished itself by winning second place in the Human Factors Engineering track. Dr. Mohammed Hatem Alhaj presented a research paper titled “Designing a Smart Device to Assist the Blind and Visually Impaired.” The study focused on developing a smart system using glasses equipped with cameras for facial recognition, a handheld device with sensors to detect nearby obstacles, and a location-tracking program for monitoring users when needed, aiming to enhance the independence of visually impaired individuals and improve their quality of life.

Additionally, computer engineering student Ruba Alkhuzaym presented a scientific paper titled “A Smart Weather-Based Air Pollution and Quality Monitoring Device Using IoT Technologies,” with contributions from researchers Dr. Nasreddine Hemami, Dr. Abdelhamid Fawzi, Dr. Mohammed Hatem Alhaj, and students Ruba Alsidrani, Ruba Alkhuzaym, Anas Alenezi, Omar Alakkad, and Asim Alturbak.

This participation and achievement reflect the university’s commitment to supporting students, promoting scientific research, and developing technological solutions that serve the community and enhance sustainable development, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
