Standing Committee for Scientific Integrity

Introduction:

Mustaqbal University has placed great emphasis on scientific integrity and research ethics in a manner consistent with the teachings of Islamic Sharia and human rights, and in accordance with the Scientific Research and Innovation Regulations in Universities issued by University Affairs Council Resolution No. (6/22/45), adopted at its twenty-second meeting held on 22/11/1445 AH, as well as the National Policy on Scientific Integrity and Research Ethics issued by the Research, Development and Innovation Authority in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In implementation of this commitment, University Council Resolution No. (1/8/47), dated 23/9/1447 AH, was issued approving the formation of the Standing Committee for Scientific Integrity at Mustaqbal University.

Vision

A pioneering research environment at Mustaqbal University founded on the originality of scientific output and adherence to standards of integrity, fairness, and transparency through effective policies and procedures that support the Kingdom's directions and Saudi Vision 2030 in developing the research and innovation sector.

Mission

To promote ethical and professional conduct in all scientific research and educational activities at the university by spreading a culture of scientific integrity, applying clear governance mechanisms to prevent unethical practices, and addressing scientific issues and violations impartially and fairly in order to protect academic and community assets.

Objectives (Objectives):

• Establish the values of honesty and objectivity in all research activities.
• Protect the intellectual property rights of researchers and institutions.
• Reduce improper research practices, such as plagiarism and data falsification.
• Provide a clear and fair mechanism for handling complaints and reports related to scientific integrity.

Scope

The objectives apply to all faculty members and those of equivalent status, researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, employees, and visiting researchers participating in any research activity funded, supported, or attributed to Mustaqbal University.

Values:

1. Honesty and Accuracy: Report data, results, and research methods truthfully without alteration or selective manipulation.
2. Objectivity and Impartiality: Avoid personal or interest-based bias in research design, data analysis, and the peer review of scientific output.
3. Intellectual Property and Proper Attribution: Accurately document references and sources and refrain from attributing the work of others, whether researchers or students, to oneself.
4. Supervisory Responsibility: Scientific supervisors must monitor and guide students and early-career researchers and ensure their compliance with standards of integrity.
